Design Considerations for Hydraulic Cylinders:
- The speed and the pressure: When the size of the hydraulic cylinder is fixed, its speed is determined by the flow rate (V α Q), and the load depends on the pressure (F α P). Most people often overlook the performance of the relief valve when calculating the speed of the hydraulic cylinder which will result in failing to achieve the required speed.
- The design of rod diameter must consider the buckling strength and decide the different calculation formula based on the stroke length.
- The calculation of the cylinder's pipe thickness: We can consider the cylinder as a pressure container according to the formula: t= PD/2S (i.e., t: pipe thickness, p: pressure, D: the pipe diameter, S: σ/ 5 ,and σ: the lowest value of anti-pulling force).<
- The strength of hydraulic cylinder is greatly subject to its installation.
- Choosing the appropriate oil seal (Packing) should be according to the installation type, pressure, speed, temperature and other items to.
- The allowed lateral load is within 1/100 of the maximum output force of hydraulic cylinder.
